Thanks for this. I also have no desire to watch a creature be glued to a pad to die. Also, I think this is a good alternative to poison which ultimately we are exposed to in our homes, as well.

Great Idea!
In 1977 I built a simular trap. Used a soda bottle and a small gold fish bowl. My little brother was so excieted that we caught a mouse one morning before school. He placed a frisby disk on the top to to keep it in until he returned from school. When he returned there was a hole in his frisby and the mouse was gone... Mom was not thrilled!
Good climbers I guess.

We have mice outside, rampaging through the small garden and munching our plants. We have used other humane traps (will try this one as well) and the bait that most interests our little fellows seems to be birdseed.

Since you were so clever with making this bottle trap- can you give me an idea for catching my mouse. He only goes to a few kitchen drawers and doesn't come out to the counter or floor. If I leave the drawers open, he doesn't show up either- only if they are closed. The bottle idea is great but won't work in the drawer- and the drawers aren't big enough to even set a bottle on it's side.

The "Have A Heart" traps are poorly constructed and the mice need only bounce around or pick at the air holes on the door to get it open and escape- which was the case with my caught mouse last night.

Just hoped since you were clever enough to come up with one "better" mousetrap, you might have another. Look forward to your response.

thanks,
Jamie

Hi,
I have a suggestion on bait. My boyfriend baited regular traps with pieces of pistachios mounted with bits of chewing gum. I have never been so successful in catching mice. Therefore, I'm looking for a humane way to do it in bulk! Your idea sounds great. I'll let you know after I try it.
Best,
Belinda

We just made two of these traps this evening because we are suddenly facing an invasion (5 mice in the past few weeks). We have two young cats who have located the mice for us and we were able to save (and relocate) 4 of the 5. I just want them to live OUTSIDE our home. I will let you know if we have any luck!
